Owned by New York State, this small, wooded island is about one acre in size. The island is a popular destination with visitors to Camp Dudley, a long-running boys' summer camp in Westport, NY. The island is also known as Father Joques Island, as it is believed that this was one of the many locations where the Jesuit missionary was tortured by the Mohawk Native Americans, while being held captive for nearly 14 months until his escape to Canada.
